*dropping ruble (or aluminum cans in this case) is brilliant to cover up a crash site. hide in plain site is a camouflage technique, aluminum cans are cheap (even it is recovered from local municipal garbage), as a combo it is genius. to verify I would look at citations related to army corps of engineers and/or the history of orders given during the 20th century to find a similar case during or fortification from armed conflict.
