people invest in their beliefs. governing factions develop in an organized fashion related to their cultural politics. We count ourselves lucky about the constitutional amendments that give us "freedom"? Politics gets dirty, foamy, and gritty when power is threatened in a republic or democracy. Rome and Athens in ancient history teaches us this....corruption can destroy society's moral fabric. OR maybe something else? Maybe mental bigotry? Maybe people are taught from a young age to what invest into morally, and their parents and society are to blame for today's failings? Maybe this is the flaw of monarchs and tyrannists. Maybe this is the flaw of releasing such technology that those that want to keep it secret. Why keep it secret? Because releasing the technology would destroy their investment(s)...of what is in their heart, of what is in their minds, of what is material (like money or power, etc...)
