Sent to My US Senators (North Carolina)

http://www.politifact.com/punditfact/statements/2013/nov/15/ellen-qualls/aca-gop-health-care-plan-1993/

Dear Senator,

As a constituent, resident, US citizen and voter in North Carolina (27616 zip code) I am very opposed to any changes to the Affordable Care Act (ACA or otherwise known as "Obamacare.") The fact is that it was not a democratic (liberal) organization that crafted a first draft of what the ACA might look like as in the late 1980's early 1990's. The Heritage Foundation did propose many of the features including the individual mandate and I am for such mandate as long as the penalty is tax basis only. see weblink: http://www.politifact.com/punditfact/statements/2013/nov/15/ellen-qualls/aca-gop-health-care-plan-1993/)  Although their position may have changed, I am quite curious about why? My question to you about the ACA is if there was to be reform, then what kind of reform and will the market be just as organized to compare plans as at healthcare.org ?
Today, many hospitals and healthcare offices are now receiving better funding and more patients to care for because of the availability of healthcare.
Many of these places are also rural healthcare facilities that many republican constituents are located in and want to keep their healthcare.
Additionally, pollution and other environmental factors that can take years if not decades to diagnose as the prime reason for health issues should be  considered in healthcare and environmental reform. Additionally, the Environmental Protection Agency is also a great asset to our Nation and by protecting the environment, it also helps reduce healthcare claims that insurance companies and what medicare would have to payout. I am pro EPA because states and local municipalities within want clean water and air and is a good of nature that can literally travel across state lines (like borders on rivers OR air from the weather.)

Please consider how much you may lose the election because of your base dying from no healthcare in rural areas.

Sincerely,

Anthony Ostertag
