*certain nutrient deficiencies that are marginal in effects are considered sub-clinical to the medical license (per jurisdiction of multiple states.) A lot of this was due in part of the supplement industry trying to stay away from FDA regulation (as like a prescription or over the counter drug) and just be treated as food. This is what is called a catch-22 in politics due to the nature of both political parties
