Court Refused to Let Man Argue Obvious Defense at Trial

*I smell corruption in this case. breaking and entering literally means (besides what the law means) breaking a window, door, or wall, etc... and entering the home. If the guy had a key then what was broken? A relationship was broken. What did law enforcement take as evidence and what was not?
A tortured case such as this could be a ploy to hide law enforcement's failings of duty in favor for the land owner.
Maybe, if the jury finds not guilty with the testimony of the wife granted permission with a key then could the wife be charged if the owner of the land did not give permission of the wife giving permission. Is that what the prosecution is trying to prevent?
